Vertical bone augmentation utilizing a titanium‐reinforced PTFE mesh: A multi‐variate analysis of influencing factors

Objective To clinically evaluate the use of a titanium-reinforced PTFE mesh for vertical bone augmentation (VBA) deficient alveolar ridges. Materials and methods This case series documented consecutive patients treated VBA with newly developed mesh. was performed in anterior posterior, maxillary mandibular arches using anorganic bovine combined autogenous graft 1:1 ratio. Healing time from initial surgery to re-opening recorded. Baseline deficiency, absolute gain (gross height gained), relative (percentage defect fill respect baseline deficiency) were registered. Overall, 89.2% cases showed complete regeneration, which occurred all sites deficiencies <5 mm, 95.6% 5–8 mm deficiencies, 89.4% >8 deficiencies. Each 1-mm addition increased likelihood incomplete regeneration by 2.5 times. Defect location had statistically significant but limited clinical impact on gained (<0.5 mm). Complications observed three (3%). Conclusions Vertical mixture autologous xenograft is safe predictable procedure. extent influences percentage gained.
